“The art of medicine consists of amusing the patient while nature cures the disease.” —Voltaire
Welcome to Issue 16!
Hello and welcome to It’s Kismet, a weekly curated list of holistic health content I thought was worth sharing with more people. This week’s focus is to continue celebrating life even through burn out!
Did you listen to the music attached this week? It is Summer, by Antonio Vivaldi. Vivaldi was a relatively unknown artist in his time (the 1700s). His works did not gain recognition till the 1930s, eight generations after his death. Isn’t that crazy? Anyway, I chose this particular composition of his because it represents the ups and downs of life incredibly well. It is called summer, a time the world dogmatically associates with fun and happiness, but this song takes you through a range of emotions: melancholy, mourning, curiosity, anxiety, excitement, happiness, and celebration.
I also chose this song because it represents burnout and the human struggle to overcome it. Burnout is something a lot of us are feeling right now. It is impossible to ignore and escape because we have spent the past two years in a worldwide pandemic. Nevertheless, seeing that it is pride month, the month to celebrate being ‘different’ and take pride in who you are as a person, I wanted to tell you not to let the burnout take all of the hope out of you.
So listen to Vivaldi’s Summer and Meditate, take some deep breaths, and continue forward. We are going to make it through this. – Lili

“An affirmation is a simple but powerful statement that helps to strengthen the connection between your unconscious mind and your conscious mind. The more you strengthen this connection the more resilient you will be when difficult or challenging circumstances. As Buddha wisely said: you become what you believe.”

How Harmful Is Social Media? → Read
“A mean tweet doesn’t kill anyone; it is an attempt to shame or punish someone publicly while broadcasting one’s own virtue, brilliance, or tribal loyalties. It’s more a dart than a bullet, causing pain but no fatalities. Even so, from 2009 to 2012, Facebook and Twitter passed out roughly a billion dart guns globally. We’ve been shooting one another ever since.”
