Description

In this short New Year message, Nate Charles reflects on the growth of The Rule of Law Brief and explains why scale has never been the primary objective.

While the podcast has surpassed 7,500 followers on Facebook and is approaching 9,000 on TikTok, this episode makes clear that viral growth has never been the mission. Instead, the goal has been to raise the quality of public discourse around the most consequential issues facing the United States today: the rule of law, democracy, human rights, immigration, and national security.

This episode explains why the show has made a deliberate choice not to simplify or sensationalize these topics for the sake of faster growth—and why the steady expansion of a serious, engaged audience is something worth genuine gratitude.

It also situates the podcast within the broader work of Charles International Law, where legal practice, global politics, and U.S. foreign policy are inseparable. Educating the public on these intersections is not just good civic practice—it is part of the firm’s fiduciary responsibility to its clients.

This message marks a transition point: closing out the firm’s first year of content creation and looking ahead to 2026 as its first full year of sustained public engagement.

Serious issues deserve serious treatment.
