Non immaginare che io sia una di quelle persone che ama il San Valentino o che non vede l’ora di ricevere una scatola di cioccolatini il 14 febbraio. Infatti non lo festeggio in nessun modo particolare. Sono peró una persona molto romantica. Mi piace esprimere a voce alta i miei sentimenti e se non lo faccio a parole lo faccio con uno messaggino, un abbraccio, una sopresa o addirittura un regalo.
Sono convinta che la vita sia troppo corta per non dire TI AMO o TI VOGLIO BENE ogni qualvolta lo si voglia.
Lo dico forse troppo spesso. Lo dico tutti i giorni alle orecchie dei miei cani “Mamma loves you” (loro non parlano italiano), lo dico a Damian con messaggini quando siamo lontani e a voce alta ogni volta che prepara gli spaghetti al pomodoro e da 18 settimane lo dico ogni notte prima di addormentartmi al mio bambino.
Cerco di dire ti voglio bene ai miei amici il più spesso possibile anche se a volte posso sembrare smielata.
Ascolto canzoni d’amore, guardo film romantici (come sapete addirittura il nome di questa newsletter nasce dal film a mio riguardo più romantico del mondo You’ve got mail), leggo poesie d’amore e mi commuovo!
E tu lo fai?
Niente di male se la tua risposta è no. Rimaniamo amici! Ma se non lo fai spesso ti chiedo di pensarci e magari farlo di più da domani. Poi ci sono cosí tanti modi per comunicare i tuoi sentimenti ad esempio, il mio modo per volerti bene, caro lettore, è passare tutta la domenica al computer per cercare materiale e cose interessanti da condividere in questa lettera!

Don't imagine that I'm one of those people who love Valentine's Day or who can't wait to receive a box of chocolates on February 14th. In fact, I don't celebrate it in any particular way. But I am a very romantic person. I like to express my feelings aloud and if I don't do it in words I do it with a text message, a hug, a surprise or even a gift.
I am convinced that life is too short not to say I LOVE YOU whenever you want.
I say this perhaps too often. I say it every day to the ears of my dogs "Mamma loves you" (they don't speak Italian), I say it to Damian with text messages when we are far apart and out loud every time he prepares spaghetti with tomato sauce and for 18 weeks now, I have been saying it every night before falling asleep to my baby.
I try to tell my friends I love you as often as possible even though I can seem too cheesy at times.
I listen to love songs, I watch romantic films (as you even know the name of this newsletter comes from the most romantic film in the world “You've got mail”), I read love poems and I am moved!
And do you do it?
Nothing wrong with that, if your answer is no. We can remain friends! But if you don't do it often I ask you to think about it and maybe do it more from tomorrow. There there are so many ways to communicate your feelings for example, my way to love you, dear reader, is to spend all Sunday at the computer looking for interesting stuff and things to share in this letter!
So, here’s my collection of five nice things about love to read, watch, listen to and, if you want, to study for this week. You can look at all or just some of them and if you are my student, we can talk about it during the next lesson.

Story of the week: STORIA D’AMORE IN 10 RIGHE
Era il 14 Ottobre 2015 esattamente 9 mesi dopo il nostro addio a Perth. Nella foto qui sopra puoi vedere un’abbraccio tra due amiche vere ed il sorriso di Wendy che mi ha vista apparire agli arrivi dell’aeroporto di Londra dietro 8 palloncini rosa a forma di cuore su cui avevo scritto frasi dolci apposta per lei. Non se lo aspettava proprio! Io in realtà dovevo essere a Milano e non ci saremmo dovute incontrare. Ma non ho restistito! Ho preso un volo e sono andata ad aspettarla pur sapendo che avrei potuto stare con lei non più di 20 minuti. Lo rifarei mille volte. Lo rifarei solo per rivedere l’emozione e la sorpresa nei suoi occhi. Le voglio bene dal primo giorno che ci siamo incontrate e gliene vorrò per sempre!

Mistake of the week : NON DIRE TI AMO A TUTTI !
In English, the phrase I love you is extremely flexible. It can be used not only towards a lover or a person you’re in love with, but also family members, your children and even really good friends.
In Italian however, there are two different phrases that equate to I love you and learning how they differ is extremely important: TI AMO & TI VOGLIO BENE
Ti amo is used towards someone with whom you have a romantic relationship. Because it is a strong statement!
ex. Ti amo, anche se ogni tanto mi fai arrabbiare!
Ti voglio bene, on the other hand, places emphasis on the tender and affectionate feelings you have for the other person. For this reason, it is used more often towards siblings, parents, children and friends than between couples in a committed relationship.
ex. Ti voglio bene mamma, sei la mamma più brava del mondo!

While I was writing you this letter I received this photo from one of my best friends in Italy, Elena. So I thought to end this letter with 5 sentences I usually say to indirectly tell “Ti amo o Ti voglio bene”!
* Ti ho preparato il caffè = I made you coffee
* Il pranzo è pronto nel frigorifero = Lunch is ready in the fridge
* Piove, ti passo a prendere = It's raining, I'll pick you up
* L’ho visto ed ho pensato a te = I saw it and thought of you
* Ti ci devo portare (È la mia preferita. È l’emozione di voler condividere quanto di più bello ti è accaduto con la persona che ami) = I have to take you there
