Matiu Te Huki is a Maori musician, teacher of Haka, workshop facilitator and healer who brings his unique blend of Maori culture, music, inner awareness and a range of different modalities to communities.
In this chat we begin with the role that Matiu stepped into on the steps of Parliament in Wellington 2022. He says that everything that he'd experienced up to that point in time prepared him to come forward as the 'Peaceful Warrior' (my description, not his) that was needed to keep the people calm and strong at that challenging time.
Matiu shares what brought him to this point and where he is now, two years on from such a significant turning point in this country. We discuss the healing powers of music and haka, how these things are accessible to anyone who feels called and that the healthy expression of emotion through practices like this, benefits individuals and groups.
