On Tuesday of Holy Week, Jesus walked back into Jerusalem, and along the road, the disciples saw the fig tree mentioned in yesterday’s readings dried up and dead. It’s why the Tuesday of Holy Week is known as Fig Tuesday. The fig tree matters because in scripture, Israel is often described through vineyard and fig imagery. Marcus has more.
