Description

Tess Jean Tanenbaum is a trans woman. Thinking of her previous name she experiences traumatic psychological and physical reactions. Deadnaming (using the name a trans person had before transitioning) is a form of violence often used towards members of the trans community. As an accomplished academic with numerous publications, Tess is constantly confronted with her deadname, fighting the use of that name at her university. Listen to her story to learn why the deadname of a trans person is none of your business and why its use can be harmful.
