Jack is a history professor at the University of Florida and the Rothman Family Chair in the Humanities, specializing in environmental history and sustainability studies. He’s the author or editor of ten books, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Gulf: The Making of an American Sea. His latest book, The Bald Eagle: The Improbable Journey of America’s Bird was the subject of our conversation. Professor Davis and I traced the rollercoaster history of bald eagles from abundance to near extinction (twice) and back again.
