Christie’s International Real Estate Allowing Crypto Payments for Homes - News.Bitcoin
What is happening? Christie International Real Estate group launches the first major US Crypto Real Estate Division.
Why does this matter? They are allowing homes in their portfolio to be purchased with cryptocurrency.
Has it actually happened? Yes, in fact, a $65 million Beverly Hills estate was bought with cryptocurrency.
Hot take: Could this open up other real estate companies to do the same? In my previous newsletter, I mentioned how cryptocurrencies are to be considered as part of your assets when being evaluated for a mortage. The winds are shifting
JP Morgan considering loans backed by crypto - Reuters
What is happening? The largest bank in the United States with $4 trillion in assets, JP Morgan Chase, is considering offering loans backed by clients’ cryptocurrencies.
Why does this matter? Now, instead of the loan you borrowed from them being backed by somebody else’s USD (Yes, that’s how it works), they will potentially back it with someone else’s Bitcoin.
Is this a good thing? In my opinion, for the overall crypto ecosystem, it is. If the largest bank in the United States is continuing to integrate cryptocurrencies into their infrastructure, then we should take notice. They didn’t become the largest by making poor financial choices.
Hot take: Doesn’t Jamie Dimon “hate” cryptocurrency? I’m honestly not sure because he says one thing and does another, and so maybe he is a skeptic. I don’t know the guy personally. It seems, however, he is willing to do what will be good for the bank, financially.
