Description

This is the first in a series I’m doing on this topic.

My awakening about the unchanging nature of G-d and His unchangeable Laws has also awakened me to areas where I’ve made presumptions about Scripture. The very words on the page stand out to me now differently. Reading entire chapters and books at once, making sure I have context and the original recipient of the words in mind, looking at Hebrew and Greek meaning and many other strategies have pushed my theology in ways I never anticipated.

Hence my new trepidation about how we preach hell.

It’s odd how conservatively I stand about the Laws of G-d and yet, how G-d is forcing me out of some of the most dogmatic prejudices that I used to believe regarding the judgment of Adonai.

But the journey to find the truth regarding what the Bible actually states about the afterlife is longer than I anticipated and filled with debate. Because of this chaos, I believe we should have this discussion so you can be better prepared to preach the truth about G-d’s character and the eternal state of the human soul.

If you’re challenged by this be assured, we are going to attempt deal with and stay in history and Scripture. I’ll do my best to share my research, and you can carry on in your own equipped with more information.

Today, we start with ancient cultures and some of the basics of belief around hell, satan and the afterlife passed down through generations. How did we get to our ideas about hell? Our imaginations and machinations regarding the eternal position of those separate from the Lord may be getting in the way of our understanding of G-d’s plan.

Blessings,
