The afterlife is vague and for many, a very scary topic. However, in order to properly speak about our Lord and Savior and properly understand the justice and mercy of Hashem, we must first understand that Hell may not be as clear cut as we have been told.
Ok, ok, I hear you southern baptists and uber-conservatives already clicking away and avoiding this content. Listen, I get it. We want justice!
But, do we, really? What does justice look like for us? Are we more willing to throw our brothers and sisters into hell than G-d is? Have you asked yourself lately,
“Why am I so excited about people going to hell?”
Not that eternal punishment doesn’t exist. Justice is real. And G-d is the author of it. So have no fear! Let the one who has the power to judge souls do the damning of souls. In the meantime, maybe we can clarify what the Bible actually says about this topic.
I don’t have all the answers, but I will show you where this word shows up, in what contexts and what some believe about this place.
