Description

The song “Our Sector” is what underground politico-urban music sounds like in the Expanse universe. It’s the conscious rap of Belters.

Today’s mix is paired with the classic and underrated film Throwlub at about 2x.

Yeah I left some mistakes in because in a few years people will be eager to buy JUST mistakes. Mistakes will be a delicacy.

Just audio files stitched together of people making mistakes.

It’ll be very valuable NFT content, underground currency.

When we meet him, Senator Yaj Throwlub presents as an FDR-inflected, Newsom-adjacent reformer stepping confidently into the Presidency. But after a late-blooming epiphany, he begins withdrawing from the blunt honesty that had once startled his staff and endeared him to voters starving for authenticity.

In public appearances, he sheds the raw, improvised candor that had defined his late career. His rhetoric stiffens; the spontaneous truths collapse into managed talking points and establishment-safe positions. “Obscenity!? Obscenity!” he barks, suddenly aware of the political costs of profanity, sexuality, and unvarnished speech. He commits himself to a neutral, unremarkable presence.

His connection with Anin fades accordingly. What had briefly felt intimate is reduced to a polite distance, and the lived experiences that once destabilized his worldview recede into policy abstractions. Conversations that had energized him lose their urgency, replaced by donor meetings, campaign choreography, and the narcotic comforts of insulation.

By the film’s final stretch, the man is a sealed vessel: a disciplined, well-managed executive whose former mania for truth has evaporated. The exuberance that once propelled him is gone; what remains is a controlled, conventional statesman.

As the story closes, Throwlub appears steady, discreet, and fully synchronized with the machinery around him — a figure who has not yet approached the breaking point that will one day propel him into chaos — deadening ennui with alcohol.
