We hit some real deep cuts here, including a couple of the type like “Bison” that didn’t necessarily age that well (they sound like, and may be, songs made on a Playstation 2). These tracks sound simple and sparse and strange today, but they’re important: Plastician and El-B and Horsepower were building the initial bridges to dubstep and to what eventually became 140 (the deep, dubby branch of dubstep that today barely bears it any resemblance, at least to me).
I adore the Homer Simpson version of Set the Roof. When I first bought it I wrote to Nikki to complain that the Homer vocals were like one quarter noteish offset but I never got any response. I love you though Nikki. We make it work.
