The Athens Hornets will finish up their 2021 season Friday night at home when they take on the Mabank Panthers.
The Hornets are 4-5 on the year while the Panthers are 6-3.
Friday is senior night for the Hornets, so come out and show your appreciation for these players.
"Senior night is always a special night to just honor these kids who have put so much into their high school career," said Coach Zac Harrell.
The Hornets will look to finish the season with a win over rival Mabank, a team Coach Harrell said has been playing very well this year.
"Coach Hudson over there in Mabank has done just a tremendous job," he said.
WORD/KEYS
Word of the Week: Find your why.
This week, Coach Harrell asked his players to think about the reasons they have committed so much time and effort into being a part of the Hornet football team.
"Nobody in that room -- and those seniors -- said I'm playing this because I want to play in the NFL," Coach Harrell said. "You're not playing for you. You're playing for reasons so much bigger than that."
Keys to victory:
-- Zero turnovers from the offense.
-- Play harder than they do.
-- Be ready for onside kicks.
-- Score points in the red zone.
-- Play for the right reasons.
