The Malakoff Tigers (6-0, 2-0) look to stay undefeated when they travel to Teague Friday night to face the Lions (4-1, 1-0). The game figures to be a battle for the top of the District 8-3A standings.
"They're extremely athletic," said Coach Jamie Driskell. "They've got really good athletes."
Coach Driskell said the Lions can run, including their quarterback. They also have some experience, with many of their players back from last year.
"It's going to be a good challenge for us," he said.
Coach Driskell said Friday night will be a challenge in the trenches.
"We've got to control the offensive line and defensive line," he said. "I'm anxious to see how we match up with them up front."
One thing for sure is that the Lions have to be worried about matching up with the Tiger defense, which has given up just seven points in the past four games.
"(They defense) is playing good," Coach Driskell said. "They're really flying around to the ball. We may give up some yardage here and there, but when they need to kind of bow their necks a little bit, they step up and do their job."
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday in Teague. Coach Driskell is calling on Tiger fans to come support the team.
"I feel like Teague is probably going to pack their side," he said. "It would be nice to get a big crowd over there for us for sure. This is a big game for us."
