The No. 5-ranked Cardinals (2-0) will be at Bruce Field Saturday night to host No. 15 Tyler (1-1). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Both teams were on the road last week, with TVCC beating Air Force Prep, 38-26, and Tyler taking care of Georgia Military, 52-28.

That big score by the Apaches isn't a mirage. Tyler has averaged 50 points in its first two games.

"Tyler's played really well the first couple of weeks," said Coach Sherard Poteete. "They've been scoring a lot of points."

Coach Poteete said the Apaches are looking to spread the defense, run tempo, and push the ball down the field.

"They've got some guys that can really run," he said. "This will be a great test for our young secondary."

Coach Poteete said turnovers will play a big part in the outcome.

"When you get two good teams playing each other, it's going to come down to who can take care of the football and who can make a big play," he said.

Other topics Coach Poteete covers in the interview:

* Playing the "Highway 31" teams.

* Mental toughness after playing in three different stadiums.

* TVCC is pretty healthy.

* The Cardinals climbing in the rankings.
