Free throws proved decisive in Notre Dame’s loss to #17 Virginia. Len Clark reports.

Virginia knocked down 28 of 35 free throws, including 14 of 15 by Tice De Ridder, to beat the Fighting Irish 100–97 in overtime. Notre Dame led by as many as 19 points in the first half and got a career high 34 points from Cole Certa, but late fouls sent Virginia to the line. The Irish cut it to three in the final seconds, but couldn’t force a second overtime. Notre Dame is now 11-10 and 2-6 in conference play and head to Syracuse this Saturday. Len Clark, Network Indiana.
