Notre Dame is a heavy favorite Saturday against Stanford, but the first quarter could tell us whether this becomes an easy afternoon. The Irish have been at their best when they establish control early — with the run game, defensive pressure and field position. Stanford’s best chance may be to disrupt that rhythm and keep the game close into the second quarter. So, the question for Notre Dame going into the game is can the Irish take control early enough to keep Stanford from believing it has a chance? Len Clark, Network Indiana.
