Al Washington has been named linebackers coach while continuing his role as defensive run-game coordinator. Washington has coached the Irish defensive line since 2022 and has previous linebacker coaching stops at Ohio State, Michigan and Elon. Under his direction, Notre Dame’s defense has ranked among the nation’s best the past three seasons, including top-10 finishes in interceptions, sacks, rushing defense and scoring defense.
