Finding Lady Wisdom (Part 2)
Tim continues his study of Lady Wisdom by exploring how the wisdom literature portrays wisdom through the imagery of marriage, love, and covenant faithfulness. Drawing from Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Ruth, and the Song of Songs, he argues that:
* Lady Wisdom is portrayed through the image of the excellent wife.
* The female lover in the Song of Songs functions as an important expression of Lady Wisdom.
* Solomon’s pursuit of satisfaction apart from God ultimately failed.
* True wisdom is found not through abundance, luxury, or self-gratification, but through faithful covenant love and godly contentment.
* Marriage flourishes through continual selfless, sacrificial love and faithful cultivation of the relationship.
The conversation also reflects on Solomon’s successes and failures, the importance of contentment, and the biblical vision of wisdom as something lived rather than merely understood.
