Greetings ambient music lovers and a happy Sunday to you. Today’s jam is a bit dark and moody. I recorded it maybe a week ago and when I re-listened to it today I thought, “wow, that’s dark AF!” I’ve been super busy at work - stressed and probably not getting enough sleep. Ambient music is my way of expressing what I’m feeling and sometimes it’s on the darkish side.
This dark, glitchy, droning patch made me think of something from a video game or sci-fi movie - maybe the ominous soundtrack behind someone exploring a mysterious and creepy abandoned vessel floating in deep space. I was inspired to play with Midjourney to create an accompanying image - something different besides just a photo of the patch.
Patch Notes
Never fear, Eurorack geeks, you still get the patch photo. The gist of the patch is that Plaits provides the only voice, which is mangled by Morphagene and Beads. The CV sequence is derived from various LFOs on Octasource, fed through a switch that feeds the varying waveforms into the pitch input on Plaits. Octasource also modulates Plaits. Reverb is by FX Aid.
