This week in TNR, buckle up for a wild life story from our guest, Joanna Fajardo.Joanna grew up very religious. Once she got a bit older, certain things she witnessed started to making her question everything she knew. She had a realization that she was in what she calls a "high-control group", often referred to as ... a cult. She exited years ago, and that came with major life-altering changes she openly explains in detail. To leave meant to lose touch with her whole family, but it also meant being true to herself. She was finally able to embrace her queerness -- her favorite thing about herself.
Joanna offers several key takeaways for those looking to navigate life after leaving a high-control group:
