Description

What if the Tower of Babel isn’t so much about a skyscraper, or trying to ‘reach God,’ but more about language, thought, technology and power? We often think of the story as being about a group of people trying to reach Heaven with their Tower, and God punishing them for their overreach, and that’s kind of true. But there’s a lot more to it than that! Join me in this new series for a sideways dive into the West’s most powerful foundational texts - the outrageous literary collection that is - the Bible! I want to make the stories ‘strange’ again so that you can see them anew.

In the series, we’ll be taking a deep dive into Genesis 11 (1-9) the Babel story to open up its valuable teaching. We’ll discover the Bible’s take on free speech, freedom, and human flourishing. We’ll encounter God in sarcastic mode, and we’ll consider whether or not the people in the story were actually punished or not. We will consider how the story speaks so clearly to us today – with some surprising conclusions about the way we live and the choices we make. And the danger we are in.

This new series is launching soon!
