Tragic news from Cherokee County: We are sad to report that a bicyclist was killed in a vehicle collision on Airport Road in Marble late Monday. This is the second such fatality on that stretch in three months. Please use extreme caution on our local roads.
Weather Alert: The National Weather Service has issued an alert for our first significant cold snap of the season. A hard freeze warning is expected for Thursday morning, with lows dropping into the mid-twenties.
Public Safety: The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is warning local seniors about an active phone scam. Callers are pretending to be a grandchild in jail and asking for bail money via gift cards. In Graham County, a local woman was safely rescued after getting lost on a hike in the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest.
