In today’s Cozy Mystery Minisode, I’m sharing my first impressions of Sugar & Vice: A Hannah Swensen Mystery, the thirteenth movie in the Hannah Swensen Mysteries.
Set in the small town of Lake Eden, the story follows baker Hannah Swensen, who somehow always finds herself solving mysteries between batches of cookies at her bakery, The Cookie Jar.
When a hotel staff member named Brandi is found dead during a masquerade celebration for the grand reopening of a local hotel, Hannah begins looking into the mystery to figure out what really happened.
In this minisode, I share my spoiler-free first impressions of the cozy bakery setting, the family dynamic between Hannah and her mom, the romance subplot, and why the mystery itself felt a little too easy for me to solve.
Since this was my first Hannah Swensen mystery, I also talk about whether I’d continue the series and if this movie works as an entry point for new viewers.
