In today’s episode, I interview my new friend Nirmali and her husband Jeremy, who I’ve known since high school. In this episode, Nirmali and Jeremy discuss how their lives interacted and led to their marriage after Jeremy grew up in the suburbs of Cincinnati and Nirmali grew up in Nagaon, India. Jeremy discusses how his passion for entrepreneurship and textiles led him to start Studio Bagru, while Nirmali’s desire to live a life of purpose gave her the confidence to drop out of dental school and pursue cooking & Ayurvedic medicine instead. From there, we talk about how Jeremy’s spiritual journey evolved in India after Nirmali introduced him to ashtanga yoga. We further dive into the definition of yoga, the guru tradition in India, and why the culture of guru is less accepted in the West. From there, we discuss ideas of death, rebirth, social entrepreneurship and the importance of protecting the intellectual property of design created by artisanal craftworkers. Please enjoy!
