U.S. men’s national team manager Mauricio Pochettino and Atlanta United manager Gerardo Martino, who played together at Newell’s Old Boys, exchanged jerseys at the MLS’s teams headquarters on Friday. Pochettino called Martino “his hero.” This is a portion of the video.
Pochettino joined Newell’s in 1989 and played through 1994. Martino, who was captain, ended his first stint with Newell’s in 1990 after making 392 appearances. He re-joined the club two more times (1991-94 and 1995). Martino made a club-record 505 appearances for Newell’s.
