Back again with Episode 26! Teddy breaks down the latest current events transpiring on Planet Clown during a jam-packed 75 minute Episode XXVI.
The events of the past few weeks while Teddy has been off the mic totally confirm that Teddy has been 100% right about EVERYTHING for two straight years.
Episode 26 Topics:
* NY Times hack Thomas Friedman wrote this article ‘Putin Will Make People Choose Between Heating and Eating This Winter’ about 3 months too late. Friedman is now loudly warning the greenies that the infrastructure simply is not in place to make this rapid shift from a reliable petroleum-based economy to a green new nightmare that fueled by wishful thinking. Teddy was saying this “Europeans will have to choose between heating and eating” line all summer.
* The FBI saves Democracy from darkness by surrounding My Pillow guy Mike Lindell at a Hardee’s drive-thru in Minnesota and seizing his cell phone (which surely had the nuclear codes on it).
* With the AMTRAK railroad strike coming up on Friday, we might get to join our European allies this winter in choosing between heating or eating. How’s that Build Back Better working out for ya? The AMTRAK strike is going to impact EVERYONE. Everything that doesn’t get delivered by truck, gets delivered by rail. This is about way more than passengers. This is about deliveries of coal, livestock feed, cars, machine parts, and anything else you can imagine to keep our society moving.
* Joe Biden’s speech in Philadelphia proves that Biden is way beyond incompetent. This guy is a straight-up a*****e. Where are all the Democrats denouncing this demagogue and the creepy dark red imagery? Just imagine the reaction if Trump gave a speech (any speech) in this setting.
* Gazprom turned off the natural gas pipeline for “repairs”, big shock. The West can weaponize the financial system and send hundreds of billions in military and financial aid to Ukraine…. but PLEASE, pretty please, Mr. Putin, please don’t turn off our gas. Wait, you mean Russia is shutting off our gas for real? FIRST PUTIN HIKES PRICES, NOW HE IS WEAPONIZING WINTER! What does he think this is…. a WAR?!
* Are you suffering from stress or depression due to the constant gaslighting and negative news? Get out in NATURE. Find a mountain far away from artificial lights and go look at the Milky Way Galaxy in all its glory. Nature is healing.
* Do you know four out of five kids born today will NEVER see the Milky Way galaxy with their own eyes? If you live anywhere near a city, you can only see a couple dozen white pinpricks in the dark sky. Yet every single night, the majesty of the Milky Way galaxy is on full display (weather and moon permitting). Teddy guarantees that being totally disconnected from the stars, planets and immensity of the universe is having a negative impact on the way we view ourselves and our place in the universe.
Teddy had the lucky opportunity to view the Milky Way galaxy in all its magnificent splendor at the Grand Canyon last week, and it was a jaw-dropping experience.
Stargazing at the Grand Canyon actually overshadowed seeing the sunset and sunrise at one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
Here’s a satellite map of North America at night. This image shows how bad the light pollution is when it comes to stargazing and viewing the galaxy in its full glory.
Anyone east of the Mississippi River is screwed when it comes to seeing the Milky Way.
The vast majority of Americans live in areas of the country that have completely lost pristine views of the night sky.
Seeing the galaxy, stars and planets on a regular nightly basis has inspired us since the dawn of civilization. Do you think it’s a good thing or bad that most Americans will never see the Milky Way galaxy during their lifetimes?
Imagine going to heaven at age sixty and telling some old-timers that you spent 21,900 days on Earth and NEVER got a chance to see the stars in their full glory?
If you were an alien from a distant planet, I’m pretty sure your FODOR’s guide to Earth would list “SEE THE MILKY WAY GALAXY AT NIGHT” as the #1 thing you’ve gotta do on your trip.
“Why did not somebody teach me the constellations, and make me at home in the starry heavens, which are always overhead, and which I don't half know to this day?”
– Thomas Carlyle
Our natural lightscapes are filled with THOUSANDS of visible stars every night. A city-slicker would be totally shocked. The Milky Way is bright enough to silhouette the clouds of gas and dust running through the center of our galaxy.
It’s called the “galactic interstellar medium”, and seeing it with the naked eye is stunning.
Most folks think it’s a great night for stargazing when they can spot the Little or Big Dipper.
But when you get far away from city lights and go up a few thousand feet in elevation, you can see things with the naked eye that I thought were only visible in a planetarium.
Google these and you’ll understand what I’m saying:
* Cygnus Dark Rift
* Northern Coal Sack
* Prancing Horse
* Scutum Star Cloud
* Sagittarius Star Cloud
Teddy will have more information on the stars, the Milky Way galaxy and light pollution in a future episode.
NOTE:
This episode was so long (75 minutes), I couldn’t figure out how to get Garageband to extend it past 2000 bars. So the very last couple sentences got chopped off. Don’t be mad. The show was almost over anyway. Will be back with another episode soon.
