Hi, this is Ken Rose from Outtakes and Fresh Starts on Substack. The following selections are from a book that I am working on called Burning Toward Transcendence. This is a collection of entries from my journals focusing on spiritual insights and meditation experiences recorded over the last four decades. The inspiration for this project was a reference in Thomas Merton’s Contemplative Prayer to Cassian’s “fiery prayer” or “ardent prayer” (oratio ignita) in his Conferences (9.15, 25).
