This week’s Field Notes arrive as a voice note — recorded from the floor, with Rita resting between my legs, a mug of soup nearby, and my carefully laid plans literally pinned under a dog’s chin.
In this first Field Notes, I’m sharing what’s been not so quietly unfolding behind the scenes of my life and work: a seismic shift away from efficiency-for-efficiency’s sake, and towards something slower, more spacious, more ALIVE.
I'm exploring the idea of unfurling — what happens when we stop forcing growth, stop continuing the harm, and allow regeneration to do what it naturally does. Through city safaris, self-trust experiments, rewilding in life, bedtime rebellions, skin healing, walruses, and inner child reparenting, this episode is an invitation to pause and listen more closely to yourself.
If you’re feeling rushed, tight, or in a silent battle with time — this one’s for you.
EPISODE NOTES:
Why I chose connection over schedule this week — and what that practice actually looks like in real life
The difference between doing things efficiently and doing things spaciously
The concept of unfurling as a way of living, healing, and creating
How nature regenerates when we stop continuing the harm — and how that applies to our nervous systems, habits, and self-talk
Why healing isn’t only about repair, but about interrupting repeated harm & interrupting the harm through curiosity, compassion, and updated support
City safaris: finding joy and presence in places that aren’t “ideal”
Ferns, sails, wind, and movement as metaphors for unfurling
Walruses blocking an icebreaker — and where you might need to “wedge” slowness into your day
Rewilding as a lens for personal growth and self-trust
What stopping highlights, nail polish, and foundation taught me about strength, repair, and letting things breathe

✦ Invitations for reflection
As you listen, you might want to sit with these questions:
Where am I trying to force growth instead of allowing unfurling?
What harm could I interrupt — today — simply by changing my words?
Where could I slow down so much I become… a walrus?
What might naturally regenerate if I stopped interfering?
NEXT STEPS:
This work — the slowing, the unfurling, the interrupting of harm — isn’t something I do alone.
It’s something I practise inside containers that make it safer to pause, listen, and choose differently.
If you’re feeling the pull to explore this alongside others, The Joy Studio is where these conversations continue — gently, honestly, and without pressure to perform.
If you’re craving deeper, more personal support, I may have space for 1:1 coaching early next year. Even filling in the application can be a powerful act of self-listening.
And if what your body wants is space — real space, held space — we’re gathering for Bloom, a countryside retreat in March.
