Hello amazing humans,

It’s Friday, and I nearly turned this into a Substack letter.

But there’s an immediacy to a voice note that writing doesn’t have. No spell check for your own voice. No slowness. Just a thought, and then send (with full Emma struggling to say immediacy in the middle).

So I recorded it instead.

Here’s what happened this morning before I even sat down to work:

* Coffee with a friend at the market behind my house.

* A balcony conversation with a woman from Spanish Catalonia wondering if she should move here with her dog.

* A man who isn’t homeless — as he pointed out — living in his van with two puppies trembling in the cold, who ended up being one of the most interesting people I’ve spoken to in a while.

* A podcast recording with Audrey about our retreat.

* Two conversations with the organic vegetable sellers.

There was also a parking fine that appeared where I made the sign of the cross in gratitude that it’s a French 30€ not a British 80GBP 😆

It was 1pm. And I realised — that rather than me just being about to get to work, had already been a pretty bloody productive morning!

Which made me think about something I explore a lot with my one-to-one clients: whose standards are you using to measure your day? And what would change if you decided for yourself?

I recorded a short voice note about it. It’s in your ears in about two minutes.

And — my calendar is open. I have one Saturday a month where I take calls, and a few spaces to talk this week. If you’re curious about one-to-one work, or you just want to reply and tell me where you are right now — especially if you don’t think support is possible — that’s actually my favourite place to start.

With love from the sunny balcony in Foix, Emma ✨
