Excerpt of the Podcast:
John Kremer:
“You later wrote that with respect to whatever happens in my life, my commitment is to return to being myself rather than a state of reaction. So, you're still talking about acting on the basis of your being, rather than reacting to the thoughts that come up, that your mind generates that tries to trap you. The place that is beyond reaction is a place where there's no intent, no hope, or no desire. I thought that was interesting because no hope?”
Louis Koster:
“Yeah, that's great. In a place of being, there is just a sense of life, and there is no... Well, no hope, so to speak. That is to say that there is not a thinking that brings about a sense that something is lacking or that needs to be added to my life. In that place of being myself, there is a sense of togetherness that doesn't require anything else.”
“In that context, that is very interesting that there is no desire, there is no sense that something needs to happen. You could say there is no hope. There is not a longing for something else in that moment. What's there is peace. There's a sense of peace, and that's everything. There's a clarity that brings about thinking that is revealing or that is about discovery, and then the unfolding is created in the moment. So...”
John Kremer:
“I like it because you're basically saying, when the mind is in charge of everything, it's saying, "Oh, there's something new coming up. There's hope here. You just have to do this." What you're saying is, "No, that kind of hope is a false hope. It's not part of acting from the level of being."
Louis Koster:
“Yeah. With hope, there is a dissatisfaction, there is a restlessness, there is a longing for something else. Although the experience is real, it is deceptive. It's just a thought and, well, nothing else.
“It's not real.”
John Kremer:
“That's one thing about hope, desire, and thoughts like that is that they really are just thoughts and they don't really have the value of reality in terms of how you can change your life, how you can act from a level of freedom.”
