The images of judgment in this passage give us a vision of what the world is like when God allows it to go the way we are determined to take it through our obsession with power: into chaos and un-creation. In the midst of this present chaos God calls us to walk in the way of Jesus through suffering with him and exercising faithful resistance to the Empires around us.
