Description

This text unfolds like a typical law and order show on TV. There is first some suspicious activity (plucking of grain on the sabbath), then a stern prosecution is leveled against Jesus by the Pharisees. Jesus defends himself by appealing to a strong precedent with king David to show that he is within the law. He then makes a shocking pronouncement that he is the Lord of the Sabbath, that is over the law. And lastly the Pharisees dismiss Jesus without prejudice to instead plan for his murder.
