I’m violating one of my core principles here, but I believe the exception is warranted. Though the topic of this episode is both politically and emotionally charged, there are great leadership lessons to be learned from it.
The core principle I’m violating is publicly commenting on a topic while emotionally engrossed in the topic. Typically, I will wait until I’ve had time to rationally consider a topic and work through my emotions related to the topic before commenting publicly. In the case of this podcast episode, I’m making an exception.
The leadership topic of this episode is taking a stand and the story behind this lesson is the vaccine mandates being imposed by governments, organizations, and societies in general. Vaccine mandates are obviously a politically charged topic, but it’s also emotionally charged for me because my daughter is beginning to pay the consequences of her stand.
Listen to the podcast episode for more details on the stand my daughter is being forced to take. Like her, know that at some point you will need to take a stand as a leader. When, not if you need to take a stand, there are three points of advice I have for you in taking that stand.
1) Be educated, convinced, and convicted
2) Avoid condemning others
3) Seek support
