Description

The biggest transformations in ortho often happen behind the scenes, through the systems you build, the support you offer, and the mindset shifts that come with growth.

Kayla Hallen has worn nearly every hat in an ortho practice, from scheduling and treatment coordination to office management. She knows what it’s like to lead through chaos, create real structure, and be the one others look to for calm and clarity. Now, as Director of Client Development at Neon Canvas, she brings that same grounded leadership to practices across the country.

In this episode, we talk about what it really takes to build a practice that runs well and feels good, from systems and communication to culture and delegation. Kayla shares what she’s learned stepping out of the day-to-day and into a bigger-picture role and why leadership often looks more like being the big sister than the boss.

“You don’t need all the patients. You can’t have all the patients. You don’t have the capacity for all the patients. It’s about finding the ones who are the best fit for your practice.”

We talk about:
– Why internal promotions need more support than most doctors realize
– What makes the office manager role so uniquely challenging
– The leadership lessons she learned through hard conversations
– How to create non-negotiable systems that protect your team and your patients
– Why authenticity in marketing matters more than ever

This one’s packed with real-talk, practical advice, and the kind of perspective only someone who’s done the work can bring.
