It’s the first Friday of Lent… which means somewhere, right now, a well-meaning Catholic is staring at a burger like:
“Lord… surely You didn’t mean this one.”
Yes. He did. 😅
So here’s your cheerful, meatless reminder:
Wait, Don’t Bite That Burger! is my new Peter’s Barque track for everyone who forgets it’s Friday until the drive-thru speaker hits them with, “Would you like bacon on that?”
Lent is basically the Church saying:
“Let’s practice saying no to good things… so we can say yes to the Best Thing.”
And yes—we give up meat because He gave it up for us.
Not because God hates burgers.
Not because fish is morally superior.
But because Friday is a weekly little “remember the Cross.”
Also: Jesus didn’t say IF you pray, fast, and give alms…
He said WHEN.
So maybe today isn’t just “no meat”—maybe it’s also:
✅ an extra prayer
✅ an extra act of generosity
✅ a little extra fasting past “mildly inconvenient”
Not to flex. Not to be seen.
But to be freed.
