On Wednesday March 10 Carl wrote:
“Today marks a turning point. It's the day we get our Grand Jury back. As I type this my friend, former Judge and police Chief Paul Nally is prosecuting a case involving crimes committed by State and local officials. The DA isn't in the GJ room. I'm outside waiting to hear how this will now proceed.
We've opened the doors. The GJ is still deliberating the various options presented. One of the biggest decisions they'll consider is referring aspects of this to the Federal GJ. This has all the potential we dreamed about.“
Two days later on March 12th Carl wrote:
“No response from the GJ yesterday. That can mean several things, most of which work in Randall's favor. If they were considering simply dismissing the case that would have already been done. According to Paul many of them appeared top side with Randall while a few of the old ones showed concern when a local Judge was named. Not concern for Randall but for the Judge. Chances are good that some of the Jurists will have to step aside because of conflicts. It's a small county and his initial list of defendants begins with about a dozen prominent officials and Lawyers plus all those at the Hospital.
Their two best options are 1. Send it to the Federal Grand Jury who will likely hear some of it anyway and 2. Assign a GBI Agent thats a recent graduate from law school to do an investigation and give The GJ the results. A third option will be to review the evidence in Randall's possesion and deal with it themselves. Paul and those familiar with GJs all see these actions as commonplace when having complicated issues like this put in their laps. It's also worth mentioning that this DA is going out of her way to give the appearance that she's giving Randall what he's asked for by stepping aside and letting Paul and Randall have full control.
They normally convene once a week so if they are not deliberating this now then an answer may not come before next Wed.”
