Description

Tune into an interview with Toni Ojomo, a rising senior at Virginia Tech, about her summer internship with Law Students in Court (LSIC). During the interview, Toni discusses the lessons she learned while court watching, investigating housing conditions, witnessing the Lamont Collective protest their eviction, and managing the LSIC Twitter account during the Intern Takeover. She also shares her favorite moments with LSIC supervising attorney Stephanie Harrison when she learned about the juvenile justice system, researched case law, and met juvenile attorneys on the second day of her internship. Her LSIC experience solidified her decision to attend law school and become a juvenile attorney. At the end of the interview, she reviews and recommends two books for interns, law students, and youth to read: "Between the World and Me" by Ta-Nehisi Coates and "The Souls of Black" by W.E.B. Du Bois. The podcast is hosted and produced by LSIC Digital Communications Director Ananda Leeke. Visit DCLawStudents.org and sign up for the newsletter. Like Facebook.com/dclawstudents.
