Description

On the occasion of the World Humanitarian Day, the acting UN Resident Coordinator has called for more efforts to allow unhindered access to those who are in need of aid.  Dr. Olushayo Olu says there are pockets of issues such as insecurity and the covid-19 restrictions that are making humanitarians unable to do their work effectively.

for his part, The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Peter Mayen, says the insecurity is due to lack of complete state governments. He said once they are formed, most of the issues will be addressed.

South Sudan is today joining the rest of the world to celebrate World Humanitarian Day, an international day dedicated to recognize humanitarian personnel and those who have lost their lives working for humanitarian causes. It is commemorated annually on the 19th August.

Dr. Olu and Minister Mayen spoke in an exclusive interview with Miraya's Sebit william.
