Description

Fares for both domestic and international travel out of Juba International Airport are set to go up, following an increase in navigation fees to be paid by airline companies.

The hike comes after the government contracted the international company - NavPass in March this year, to claim ownership of its sovereign airspace and collect overflight fees.

General-Secretary of the South Sudan airline operator’s union, Gabriel Ngang Maduok revealed that the increment for international flights has already been implemented while the costs for domestic flights will be adjusted next week.

NavPass works with various African countries to implement international guidelines to improve their airspace safety, security, and efficiencies.

The company is also expected to use its expertise on the ground to train authorities and airport staff to improve the safety of its air infrastructure, bringing it in line with international standards set out by the United Nations’ International Civil Aviation Organization.
