Welcome to Peacemakers Program.
After almost two years of being off the air, Peacemakers Program is today back on the waves is back looking for solutions to some issues that have been the root cause of conflicts in many parts of the country. Today’s discussion is about management of relationships between cattle herders and farming communities.
So many conflicts between cattle keepers and farmers have been reported in South Sudan over the years. And it seems there is no end to problem.
The question in today’s discussion is about whether there can be solutions or not. In this episode Gabriel Shadar asks asking expert guests Mrs. Masmina Dominic, Civil Affairs Officer in UNMISS Juba Field Officer and Mr. Abdalla Hasan Femi, Director General of the EES Ministry of Local Government and Law Enforcement Eastern Equatoria State with knowledge and experience in settling conflicts between the pastoralists along South Sudan and Kenya. They share some ideas on the best practices in managing relations between cattle keepers and farmers.
