Northern Liech state information Minister, Lam Tungwal, says the situation in Northern Liech remains dire after the SPLA clashed with opposition forces in Koch, Unity an oil-producing region early on Sunday.
The clashes came a few hours after a cessation of hostilities agreement signed in Addis Ababa last week, came into effect.
Lam Tungwal says 13 civilians were killed, 15 others severely injured and 19 opposition forces killed.
He described the clashes as unfortunate, saying innocent civilians should not be subjected to so much suffering.
