Voice for Change, a South Sudan registered non-governmental organization is advocating for strong laws to regulate payment of bride price.
Their appeal comes on the heels of a shocking incident in which a 20-year-old school girl was beaten to death by her brothers in Yirol, Eastern Lakers, for refusing to marry a suitor who paid 40 cows in dowry for her hand in marriage.
Voice for Change Executive Director, Dorothy Drabuga says that traditional practice left unregulated is encouraging parents to use their daughters as commodities to seek riches.
Drabuga spoke to Susan Dokolo in this interview.
