The African Union Special Envoy on women, peace and security is calling for stronger action against gender-based violence in South Sudan.
Bineta Diop was in Juba last October to launch a campaign to make the voices of South Sudan women heard, and demand accountability of perpetrators of violence against women and girls.
Speaking exclusively to Radio Miraya from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the special envoy made a plea to the country’s leaders to end all violence and restore the dignity of South Sudanese women.
Ms Diop is confident the campaign will bring positive results in the fight against sexual abuse and gender-based violence.
She spoke to Gabriel Shadar in this interview.
