The UN Security Council has imposed targeted sanctions on 6 military commanders. The individuals, 3 from either side of the conflict, are accused of fueling the ongoing fighting and contributing to the devastating humanitarian crisis in their country. The restrictions come with global travel bans and an assets freeze on the named individuals. Spokesperson for the foreign Affairs Ministry Mawien Akol Arik says although targeted, the sanctions will negatively affect the entire country.
