Government spokesperson, Michael Makuei says IGAD envoys have set August 17th as the date to sign a final peace agreement between government and opposition delegations.
IGAD mediators have invited both sides to Addis Ababa this week to receive new proposals for a compromise agreement in an attempt to bring an end to the conflict.
"Three representatives are supposed to go on the 23rd and on the 24th morning they receive the propose compromise agreement and they come back the same day in the afternoon," Makuei says.
The delegations will be given time to deliberate the proposals before they return to the negotiating table, in what is hoped will be the last round of talks.
"We will deliberate and discuss the document and the agenda says on August 17th the summit meeting of IGAD-plus attend the signing of the agreement. There is not much I can say about the compromise agreement until we see it.”
