Women are joining the campaign against hate speech. Betty Sunday, the Executive Director of the Women’s Monthly Forum, a local Women’s NGO in Juba says women from across the country are coming together in groups to preach a language of peace, unity and togetherness.
The United Nations and other partners have warned of an escalation in the use of derogatory and inciting statements that have the potential to destroy the country.
Betty Sunday says the campaign is a process that will take time and needs the active participation of women.
“As a mother in the house you cannot watch your family hate themselves,” said Betty Sunday.
In this interview with Sebit William she explains why women should be involved.
