We discuss how high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging, (MRI), of the spinal cord may be a non-invasive way of monitoring SMA disease progression and responses to treatment. Also, Michael Morale discusses the importance of having SMA added to the national list of disorders that doctors use when screening newborns.
