Do you struggle every time your kids have a meltdown or tantrum?

Then this advice could be just what you’ve been waiting for! Keep reading...

We’ve got 5 STEPS for you to help kids deal with their emotions, and our child-whisperers Mitch and Mills, are breaking them down for you in our new episode of Dorothy and the Dealer.

Can’t wait that long? Okay… we’ll give you a quick rundown.

  1. Breathe. And remember they aren’t GIVING you a hard time, they are HAVING a hard time.
  2. Give them the space to express their feeling
  3. Don’t take it personally. They aren’t mad at you, but at whatever is causing their ‘overwhelm’
  4. Give words to why they are hurting. The worst thing you can do is ignore it.
  5. Wait until they are OUTSIDE the emotion (in place and time) to discuss the real stuff that’s going down.
Remember - kids are just little versions of ourselves. And what do we want most when we feel scared, frustrated, or pissed-off? We want someone to listen to us, help us put into words what we’re dealing with, and make us feel seen.
