The driver quietly drove as we talked. It seemed to get darker the further we got, street lamps thinning until there were nothing but dark roads. We had gone into the “rougher” part of town, the side I wasn’t very familiar with. By the time I didn’t recognize the surroundings at all, he started to slow down. Without a word he pulled up to the sidewalk and stopped, putting it in park and unbuckling. We looked around confused, only seeing a liquor store and a rent-a-tux shop with its lights out for the night. There was no club to be found.
